Velvets
One velvet piece changes everything
Velvet has depth, a soft pile and a richness that lights up in evening photos. This is a compact group of separates and a few sarees, made for layering over what you already own. One velvet piece can turn a summer saree into a December one.
Blouses are the easiest way in. Regent Black and Royal Emerald pair with almost any silk, satin or tissue saree, and Femme Noir adds a sheer net detail. We especially love a velvet blouse with a silk saree borrowed from your mother's wardrobe.
For warmth, the Black Velvet Jacket with lace goes over sarees and suits alike. The Black Jacket hides a fuchsia surprise lining you only show when you want to. On the saree side, Black Onyx is a posh velvety saree with embroidery and blouse fabric.
Pair a velvet blouse with a light chiffon for contrast, or go dark from head to toe for a reception. Emerald and black both suit gold or polki. There's a hand beaded wine shawl here too, and you'll find more among our shawls and jackets and capes.
Good to know
What saree goes with a velvet blouse?
Silk, tissue, satin and chiffon all work. Velvet adds warmth and contrast, especially against lighter sarees.
Can I wear a velvet jacket over a saree?
Yes. An open or cropped jacket keeps you warm at outdoor functions and gives a saree a modern line.
How should I store velvet?
Hang it or roll it rather than folding it tightly, so the pile doesn't crush. Dry clean only.
