Potli
How we'd carry it
Hands free, phone safe, shagun ready
There's a reason the potli has stayed with sarees for generations. It hangs from your wrist, closes with a drawstring and holds exactly what a function needs: phone, lipstick, keys and a shagun envelope or two.
Because it lives on your wrist, your hands stay free for greeting family and dancing. Our blue and green velvet sequin potlis feel right for winter weddings, and the maroon velvet with its mirror lace handle was made for a mehndi.
For bigger nights, look at the embroidered lotus potlis in fuchsia or black on black, or the beaded clutches in emerald, cream and pearl from our luxury accessories. A clutch feels more polished at a seated dinner, and it's kinder to a large phone.
Your bag doesn't need to match your saree. A fuchsia lotus potli against an emerald drape looks far better than a perfect match. Keep one gold or silver bag for days with no time to plan, or pair yours with a belt from our belts and potlis edit.
Good to know
What fits inside a potli?
Most hold a phone, lipstick, keys and a little cash. Sizes vary, so check the product page if your phone is on the larger side.
Should my potli match my saree?
Not necessarily. Pick up a colour from your blouse or border, or go for a clear contrast. A metallic or beaded bag goes with almost anything.
Potli or clutch for a reception?
A potli is easier when you're mingling and dancing. For a seated dinner, a beaded or metal clutch looks more finished.
