Organza Saree
How we'd wear it
The saree that floats
Organza is sheer, crisp and almost weightless. It holds a pleat beautifully and catches daylight in a way satin never quite does. No wonder it's become our go-to for haldi, mehndi, day weddings and summer receptions.
Our plain pastel organzas are made for a contrast blouse. The printed, hand-painted, embroidered and beaded ones need only something simple. A few even come pre-draped, with embellishment, in our patented Less than a Minute style.
Because it's crisp, organza gives you a sculpted drape rather than a clingy one. It keeps that shape all night, so the drape you leave home in is the one in the last photo. For the evening, pair a plain organza with one of our sequin blouses. In winter, add a cape or shawl over a printed one.
Torn between this and chiffon? Chiffon is softer and falls closer to the body. Organza has more volume and structure.
Good to know
Is organza see-through?
It's sheer, so it's worn over a matching petticoat. That soft layering is part of its charm.
Does it crease easily?
It can. Give it a quick steam, or iron on low heat from the reverse, before you wear it.
Is organza a good choice for a haldi?
It's one of our favourites. Pastel and printed organzas feel fresh in daylight, and our haldi sarees page has more ideas.
