Satin Saree Care Tips to Maintain your Precious Sarees
1. How to Wash Satin Sarees?
Before you go ahead and wash your satin saree, water-test it. The idea behind the water-test is to check if your satin saree fabric undergoes any changes when immersed in warm water. Start by immersing a small portion of your saree in warm water and observe any changes that the fabric undergoes. If the wet area of the fabric undergoes stretching, shrinking, elongation or forms wrinkles or ripples then it is advised to go for dry clean only.
In other cases, follow the wash instructions provided by the manufacturer. If you don’t find any care instructions then you can go for hand washing the saree. Start by mixing 1 spoon of mild detergent (preferably liquid) in cold water. After that immerse the satin saree in the water mixed with detergent for around 30 minutes. After that rinse the saree under running water until the saree is rid of all the soap/detergent.
2. How to Dry Satin Sarees?
Once you are done washing the saree, don’t squeeze or wring the saree. Instead, use 2 soft towels. Place one towel over a flat surface, put the saree on the towel and then use the 2nd towel to squeeze excess water.
Once the saree is drained of excess water, dry it in a shaded area away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will damage the fabric so ensure that your saree doesn’t get exposed to direct sunlight.
3. How to Store Satin Sarees?
Ensure that you don’t hard fold the satin saree otherwise it will develop permanent folds and creases that will damage your saree.
4. How to Remove Stains from Satin Saree?
The best advice to remove stains from your Satin saree is to use a stain solution. It could be a specialized stain solution or a mild detergent.
Gently apply the stain solution/detergent on the stained area of the saree and let it soak for about 10-15 minutes. After that, wash the saree in cold water and dry it.
These are a few useful satin saree care tips that you should follow to maintain your satin sarees. However, do note that if the saree care instructions provided by the saree manufacturer state that you need to dry clean the saree then you should dry clean the saree.Want to buy Sarees online but don’t know which brand to go for?
